She earned her bachelor's degree in industrial design from Pratt Institute in New York City and her master's degree in education from the University of Hawaii, and works as a graphic designer, book designer, and editor. Her own published books include Dreams of Tamalpais (1989, Last Gasp, San Francisco); Shiny Objects (2009, Beatitude Press, Berkeley), and Colored Edges (2015, Spaceframe Press, San Rafael). In 2004, Sharon married videographer Bruce Bagnoli. Their studio, Visigraf Communications & Design, (www.visigraf.com) offers affordable solutions for print and web, books, presentations, and video, from a rambling white house in a bamboo grove in Marin County, Northern California, with three cats and two tortoises.
